Your zip label would help. The antenna recommendation depends on what frequency bands the digital stations are broadcasting on - any on VHF low. VHF High all on UHF? Are any of the stations moving from UHF to VHF after the analog shutdown. The zip code helps us look that up. Depending on the terrain an indoor antenna might bring home the bacon at 12 miles if the stations are at good power levels. Anyway you can undergo co-axial cable runs of up to several hundred feet. But a pre-amp is recommended for desire telecommunicate runs to boost the signal.
Yep if you're that change state pretty much any $20 set of hunt ears should do the trick. They undergo some more trick looking ones out there. I'd go away with the cheapos see what you get and go from there.
thanksmy zip code is 14580. I'm basically in the middle of the zip where it brings you on explore map. What's a pre-amp? how much are they? which one is good?If an indoor antenna would work that is the easiest for me.
I ran your antenna web results and you should really be able to choose up most of your Rochester stations with a simple indoor antenna:yellow - uhfWXXI21PBSROCHESTERNY239°8.521*yellow - uhfWXXI-DT21.1PBSROCHESTERNY239°8.516yellow - vhfWHEC10NBCROCHESTER NY239°8.510color - vhfWROC8CBSROCHESTERNY239°8.58*yellow - uhfWROC-DT8.1CBSROCHESTERNY239°8.545color - uhfWUHF31FOXROCHESTERNY239°8.531*yellow - uhfWUHF-DT31.1FOXROCHESTERNY239°8.528color - vhfWHAM13ABCROCHESTERNY239°8.513*color - uhfWHAM-DT13.1ABCROCHESTERNY239°8.559*green - uhfWHEC-DT10.1NBCROCHESTERNY239°8.558blue - uhfWBGT-LP40MNTROCHESTERNY264°11.240blue - uhfWHSH-CA15BOXROCHESTER NY239°8.515color - uhfWAWW-LP38INDROCHESTER NY239°8.538blue - uhfW26BZ26MNTVICTORNY183°12.726color - uhfW42CO42INDROCHESTERNY239°8.542I'm not recommending this but this is an example:I've seen several similar models at Lowes and Home Depot as well all under $40. My recommendation would be to continue over to lowes pick up an antenna and fasten it up and if it doesn't bring home the bacon go from there and you can think about a bigger antenna in the attic or something but you likely won't be it.
I looked up some information on reception in your area. The five study networks are indeed around 10 miles away all in the same direction (227 degrees). After February 2009 your bring 10 and 13 will move back drink to their current VHF locations and the other 3 will stay on UHF. I would try a simple "rabbit ear" and circle combo that has no amplifier such as one made by RCA and available at most common discount and even drug stores. Until 2009 you can get the 'rabbit ear' part telescoped all the way down and just use the loop part. Like any indoor antenna act it around for best performance while watching the communicate quality meter on the TV. If it would work better in a window facing the towers you could get a piece of ready made persuade telecommunicate and a coupler to add on the the lead-in equip. Just do not add more dead-in than required. Good Luck!
I accept try the inexpensive basic tabletop VHF hunt ear- UHF loop indoor antenna first. But we can't guarantee that it will bring home the bacon. Too many variables. Depends on the accommodate construction materials whether you are trying to get the stations from the basement or upstairs density of trees or buildings around the accommodate. You may also find that you get dropouts with the indoor antenna. But it is worth trying the indoor setup first. If you end you need an attic or outside antenna the bring Master 4220 2 bay bowtie should do the job. It has decent performance for upper VHF 10 to 13 so it should get WHEC-DT 10 and WHAM-DT 13 at 9 miles when they switch to their upper VHF channels in 2009. See for a photo of the CM 4220. The CM 4220 is be enough to mounted indoors in some situations and has more obtain than a basic UHF loop antenna.
